Paver Patio & Walkway Installation
A paver patio is only as good as what is underneath it. In our climate the ground freezes and thaws repeatedly through the winter, and any patio built on a thin or poorly compacted base will heave, settle, and separate within a few seasons. We excavate to depth, install and compact base material in lifts, and screed a bedding layer before the first paver goes down.
We install patios, walkways, front entries, steps, and fire pit areas using concrete pavers, natural stone, and permeable systems. Edge restraint and polymeric sand go in on every job.
Design comes first. We lay out the space around how you will actually use it — table and chairs, grill area, the traffic path from the back door — and then choose materials that fit the house and the budget.
Built on a Proper Base
Excavated to depth with base compacted in lifts. It is the part you never see and the only reason a patio stays flat.
Built for Freeze-Thaw
Base depth, drainage, and edge restraint specified for Chicago winters, not a generic install.
Laid Out for How You Use It
We size and shape the space around furniture, grill, and traffic paths before anyone picks a paver color.

Paver Patio FAQ
Cost is driven by square footage, paver choice, site access, and how much excavation and grade correction the area needs. Steps, walls, and fire pits add to it. We give you a line-item estimate after seeing the site, so you can adjust the scope rather than guess at a number.
A typical residential patio takes three to seven working days depending on size and access. Projects that include steps, retaining walls, or drainage work take longer.
Not if the base is right. Nearly every failed patio traces back to insufficient base depth or poor compaction. We excavate to depth and compact in lifts — it is slower, and it is the reason the surface stays flat.
Pavers flex with ground movement instead of cracking, individual units can be replaced if one gets damaged, and there is far more design range. Concrete is usually cheaper up front, but cracks are permanent and repairs are always visible.
Sealing is not required. It deepens the color and makes stains easier to clean up. If you want it done, it should wait until the pavers have been through a full season.
Some villages require permits for patios, and most do for anything near a property line or easement. We handle the permit process and call in JULIE locates before digging.
